PREPAK (Pro) claims responsibility for New Lambulane bomb attack

The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), PREPAK (Pro), has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack targeting Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel at New Lambulane in Imphal East district on October 8 at around 9.17 pm.

In a statement issued by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, L. Ningsingba, the outfit said its Cobra Task Force (CTF), a special mobile team, carried out the attack.

The outfit accused RAF personnel of using stun grenades to disperse democratic protests, electric shock batons against women protesters, and tear gas and pellet guns against students, allegedly causing eye injuries.

Questioning the deployment of RAF personnel in Manipur, the statement alleged that the force’s actions were contributing to the suffering of civilians and accused the Centre of pursuing a policy that was pushing the people of the state towards further conflict.

It also criticised the presence of the Indian Army and RAF in Manipur, alleging that their deployment was aggravating the situation rather than addressing the concerns of the people.

The outfit further warned that its Cobra Task Force would carry out bomb attacks and other explosive actions when circumstances warranted.
