The Television and Cine Foundation (TCF), one of Manipur’s leading organisations dedicated to cinema and television, marked its 20th Foundation Day with a commemorative programme held on Tuesday at Waring Chingra, Nongdam. Eminent personalities from the fields of art, culture and media attended the celebration.
The event reflected on TCF’s two-decade journey in strengthening Manipur’s film industry and fostering a culture of meaningful cinema. Since its inception, the organisation has consistently worked to support filmmakers through film screenings, interactive sessions with acclaimed directors and storytellers, incubation programmes for emerging talents, project pitching forums, and documentary screenings aimed at encouraging reality-based storytelling. Beyond promoting cinema, TCF has also extended financial assistance to members facing medical hardships while honouring the achievements of filmmakers and artists for their contributions to the industry.
A condolence was also paid to its late members, veteran filmmaker Oken Amakcham and Film Forum Manipur Chairman Kh. Kuleshwar Singh, who passed away recently. Addressing the gathering, speakers praised the foundation for its sustained efforts in nurturing regional cinema and creating opportunities for young filmmakers. They noted that TCF has become an important platform for creative exchange, collaboration and talent development in Manipur.
The 20th Foundation Day celebration concluded with a renewed commitment from the organisation to continue supporting the growth of Manipuri cinema and inspiring the next generation of filmmakers.
