Social Welfare Department felicitates HSLC 2026 achievers from special schools

The Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, yesterday organised a felicitation ceremony at Ideal Blind School, Takyel, to honour students of Ideal Blind School and Government Deaf & Mute School, Takyel, who successfully passed the HSLC Examination 2026.

The programme was attended by Director of Social Welfare Sheikh Abdul Hakim and Deputy Director L. Dhaneshwor Singh, along with school authorities, teachers, students and parents.
A total of ten students from the two institutions were felicitated for their academic achievements. From Government Deaf & Mute School, Takyel, the successful candidates were Laishram Athoi Meitei (CGPA 6.33), Laishram Khambaton Singh (CGPA 5.50), Rizat N (CGPA 6.33), Sogaklung Pamei (CGPA 5.83), Sukur (CGPA 6.00), Kwairakpam Sanjita Devi (CGPA 5.83) and Leireine (CGPA 6.00). From Ideal Blind School, Takyel, Anoubam Michael Sharma (CGPA 8.0), Md. Sakil Ahamad (CGPA 7.5) and Sarangthem Basan Meitei (CGPA 7.5) were felicitated.

Addressing the gathering, Director Social Welfare Sheikh Abdul Hakim congratulated the students on their success and reiterated the Department’s commitment to promoting inclusive education. He announced that efforts would be made to upgrade Ideal Blind School, Takyel, to the higher secondary level by introducing Classes XI and XII.

The proposed upgrade aims to provide students with disabilities greater access to higher education and help reduce dropout rates by enabling them to continue their studies in a supportive and accessible environment.
The ceremony celebrated the resilience, determination and achievements of the students while reaffirming the Department’s commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for all. Deputy Director L. Dhaneshwor Singh also extended his congratulations to the successful candidates and wished them success in their future endeavours.
