A special exhibition showcasing the historic Khangabok (Keipha Loukol) Coin Hoard of 1984 will be organised on May 17 at Bh. Manithoi’s Mandop, Khangabok Makha Leikai, in connection with the release of the second volume (2026 edition) of the annual multilingual journal Khongchat: The Khangabok Diary, published by Book Club, Khangabok.
The programme is expected to draw historians, researchers, writers, students, cultural activists and members of the public interested in Manipur’s archaeological and literary heritage.
The Khangabok (Keipha Loukol) Coin Hoard of 1984 is regarded as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in Manipur and is recognised as the largest coin hoard ever discovered in the state. The exhibition is expected to provide rare public access to an important collection linked to the historical and cultural legacy of the region.
Director of Mutua Museum and custodian of the coin hoard, Mutua Bahadur, will attend the function as the chief guest. The programme will be presided over by Prof. Khundrakpam Jugindro Singh, Principal of YK College, Wangjing.
