DIU Kangpokpi conducts Comprehensive Health Awareness Program

The District Implementation Unit (DIU) Kangpokpi, in collaboration with the State Health Agency and State Nodal Cell Manipur, organized an awareness session on Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT), Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The event was held at the Phaijang Pre-Fabricated House under the Saitu Gamphazol Sub-Division, Kangpokpi.
During the session, the CMHT and AB-PMJAY programme coordinators briefed citizens on the life-saving benefits of both health schemes. Attendees were educated on eligibility criteria—specifically mentioning AAY card holders, persons with disabilities, widows, and senior citizens aged 70 and above (Vay Vandana). The coordinators provided step-by-step guidance on the card creation process and explained how to access cashless hospitalization of up to Rs. 5 lakhs at empanelled hospitals. The program emphasized that possessing an original Aadhaar card and relevant eligibility documents is essential for seamless enrollment, aiming to bridge the healthcare gap for the community’s most vulnerable sections.
Dr. Mangboi, the District Immunization Officer, highlighted the critical link between the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer, which is currently the second most prevalent cancer among women in India. He noted that while the HPV vaccine is traditionally expensive, the Indian government has launched a vital initiative to provide these doses free of charge to girls aged 9 to 14 to ensure long-term protection. Crucially, the discourse addressed the dangerous surge of social media misinformation and “fake news” regarding vaccine safety. Dr. Mangboi issued a stern warning to the public to disregard viral myths that hinder public health progress, urging parents and guardians to rely on verified medical facts to safeguard their children’s future health.
