The Senapati District Students’ Association has issued a strong condemnation of alleged violence at Thonglang Naga Village on March 21, accusing armed groups under Suspension of Operations (SoO) of carrying out acts of arson, vandalism, looting, and intimidation.
In a sharply worded statement, the association said the incident has triggered widespread panic among residents, with women and children reported to be the most affected. It described the attack as part of a continuing pattern of aggression in vulnerable areas.
SDSA pointed to similar incidents in Iteng, Konsakhul, Waphong Inthan, and K. Lungwiram, alleging that repeated attacks indicate a systematic breakdown of security in these regions. The association also recalled a February incident at Tapon Naga Village, where property linked to the organisation was reportedly desecrated.
Questioning the effectiveness of existing security arrangements, SDSA said such incidents continue despite the presence of security forces across the state. It called on authorities to take immediate and decisive measures to safeguard civilian lives and prevent further escalation.
Warning of growing frustration among the local population, the association stated that it may be compelled to take “appropriate measures” to defend community interests if the situation remains unaddressed, signalling the risk of further tensions in the region.
