Premchand among award winners at 3rd Kalyan Barooah Awards 2025

Kshetrimayum Premchand, Chief Reporter of SKTV News, Imphal, Manipur, has been declared the winner of the Electronic Media Award at the 3rd Kalyan Barooah Awards 2025, organised by the North East Media Forum (NEMF) in association with My Home India. The annual awards recognise journalists for outstanding reportage on issues concerning India’s North Eastern region.
The award winners were selected by a five-member jury comprising former All India Radio Director General Moushumi Chakrabarty; senior journalists Achinta Bora of PTI, Sandeep Phukan of The Hindu, and Sachin Gogoi of BBC; and Prof. Shashwati Goswami, Regional Director of IIMC Aizawl.
Announcing the results, NEMF stated that the Lifetime Achievement Award has been conferred on Monalisa Changkija of Nagaland Page for her remarkable and sustained contribution to journalism in the region. In the Print Category, Amal Goswami, Chief Staff Reporter of Dainik Janambhumi, Assam, was declared the winner. In the Digital Media Category, the award went to Mridul Kumar Handique of Pratidin Digital, Assam.
The forum also informed that no entries were received for the Still Photography and Videography categories this year.
The awards will be presented on December 11, 2025, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, marking the birth anniversary of the late Kalyan Barooah.
