The National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by Assam Rifles under Operation Sadbhavana reached its first destination in Shillong after a two-day journey from Pallel. The tour, flagged off on 10 September from Pallel, comprises 31 individuals—including 26 representatives from Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Tengnoupal district —who embody the diverse social fabric of Manipur and five support personnel of Assam Rifles.
The contingent’s route through Maram and Dimapur, with overnight halts and receptions at Assam Rifles establishments, before arriving in Guwahati by train and continuing onward to Shillong by road. This journey is part of a 15-day itinerary designed to immerse participants in India’s cultural richness and developmental landscape, while strengthening their connection to the nation’s democratic institutions.
At Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR), the participants engaged in an interaction with the Director General Assam Rifles. The dialogue centered on pressing developmental needs in remote regions, including the enhancement of road connectivity, educational infrastructure, and healthcare services. The DGAR commended the initiative and reiterated Assam Rifles’ steadfast commitment to inclusive growth and peace building across the Northeast.
The visit also included explorations of Shillong’s cultural and historical landmarks, offering participants a deeper appreciation of the region’s heritage and its role in India’s pluralistic identity. This first leg of the tour marks a beginning to a journey that will continue through Kolkata and culminate in Delhi, where the group is scheduled to meet national dignitaries including the President of India.
On the other hand, the Shangshak Battalion of Assam Rifles, operating under the aegis of IGAR (South), organized a First Aid and CPR workshop for the residents of Shangshak village in Ukhrul district today, marking World First Aid Day.
The event was led by the Medical Team of Assam Rifles and the programme was designed to equip the local populace with essential knowledge and practical skills to respond effectively during medical emergencies. Participants were guided through critical first aid procedures and engaged in hands-on demonstrations of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), a vital technique that can significantly improve survival outcomes when administered promptly.
