Health employees warn of joining strike if Govt. fails to meet demands

Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI), Manipur State Branch, the Association for All Non-Teaching Staff, and the TNAI JNIMS Unit today warned that they would join the ongoing cease-work strike if the State Government failed to address the demands of its employees.

Speaking at a press conference held at JNIMS, TNAI Manipur State Branch General Secretary Loukrakpam Sanjarani said healthcare workers had so far refrained from joining the strike out of concern for patients and had extended only moral support to the ongoing agitation.

She said nurses and other health employees could not completely suspend services due to their responsibility towards patient care. However, if the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF), Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) and Manipur State Pensioners’ Union (MSPU) decide to intensify the agitation, health employees would also participate in the strike physically.

Appealing to the Government to resolve the issue at the earliest, Sanjarani said the employees’ demands are genuine and warned that continued inaction could lead to disruption of healthcare services in the State.
