Rahul Gandhi alleges ‘Vote Theft’; Rijiju accuses opposition of distrusting institutions

IT Desk
New Delhi, August 11:

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday alleged that MPs of the INDIA alliance were stopped and taken into custody while on their way to meet the Election Commission of India (ECI).
In a post on social media, Gandhi said, “The truth of vote theft is now before the country. This fight is not political—it is a fight to protect democracy, the Constitution, and the right to ‘one person, one vote.’” He added that the united opposition and voters across the country demand a clean and transparent voter list, vowing to secure this right “at all costs.”
Responding to the allegations, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused the opposition of mistrusting key constitutional institutions. He said that the ECI had agreed to meet a delegation of 30 members—two from each party—but the opposition failed to decide on the list.
“Now Kharge ji is saying that all the opposition members are VIPs, so will 150 people enter the Election Commissioner’s room?” Rijiju remarked, adding, “The INDI alliance does not trust the Supreme Court, the Election Commission, or the Parliament. They attack all the constitutional institutions of our country.”
He urged the opposition to participate in parliamentary discussions, stating, “We will pass the bill. You should participate in the discussion.”
