Imphal, April 7:
Thanga Assembly Constituency MLA, Tongbram Robindro Singh, met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan today and discussed several long-pending developmental concerns and the prevailing situation in the state.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Robindro Singh expressed gratitude for being granted an appointment by the Governor. “It was nice of him to give me the appointment. He called me today at 11:50 and I met him on time. I raised some of my concerns and long-pending demands that were not fulfilled by the previous government,” he said, adding that the Governor took note of the issues discussed.
While refraining from commenting on the timeline for the return of a popular government, Singh expressed hope that it may happen soon. “It would not be proper for me to say anything on that. But I believe it may come soon,” he added.
Reacting to the recent vandalism and arson at the residence of BJP Manipur Minority Morcha president Asker Ali Makakmayum in Lilong, the MLA termed the situation as “very sensitive” and called for cautious handling.
“There are a few very sensitive issues that we have to act on cautiously. Asker Ali’s house was vandalized — we saw it on social media and have heard about it. We are trying to resolve the matter and stop such incidents, but unfortunately, we couldn’t prevent it,” he said. “We must handle such issues with care and in line with the sentiment of the people.”
Robindro Singh’s statement comes amid heightened tensions following Asker Ali’s public support for the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which has drawn sharp criticism from sections of the Muslim community.
