The Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) has issued an appeal to Foreign insurgent groups to cease hostilities, stressing the need for unity among revolutionary organizations. This call comes after decades of fluctuating relations and conflicts involving various insurgent groups and the Indian military.
The RPF recounted its initial engagement with the Chin National Front (CNF) of Myanmar in 1994, when they attempted to establish camps in Bangladesh. Despite the CNF’s known ties with Indian Intelligence and the Indian Army, the RPF sought a partnership. However, tensions arose in 1995 when the CNF demanded a levy on the RPF’s weapon transportation and subsequently supported Operation GOLDEN BIRD, an Indian Army initiative aimed at crushing the Manipuri insurgents.
In a 1997 meeting at the UN Building in Geneva, Switzerland, the RPF and CNF addressed their past disputes, emphasizing a shared revolutionary goal and agreeing to cease conflicts. This truce endured until January 2022, when a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Chin National Army (CNA) attacked a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) camp, resulting in casualties on both sides.
The RPF attributed this attack to the Indian Army’s influence over the CNF, seeking retaliation for a PLA ambush in November 2021 that killed an Assam Rifles Commanding Officer. The press release criticized India for manipulating insurgent groups like the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) to further its military objectives, destabilizing the region. It reads, “India is using the name of KNA-B for India’s Unconventional Military Activities – the conduct of sabotage, subversion, and destabilisation through undeclared Indian forces – outside WESEA Region targeting Myanmar directly.”
Despite these incidents, the RPF affirmed its policy of non-aggression towards foreign insurgents, focusing solely on resisting India’s occupation since 1949. The RPF has condemned media reports suggesting otherwise as Indian propaganda, reiterating its commitment to principled revolutionary action. “Any publications or posts in the mass media about PLA attacking other foreign insurgents or ethnic communities are not only ‘far from the truth’ but also cheap propaganda initiated by India and its henchmen,” the statement added.
Deputy Secretary of Publicity, Roben Khuman, called on all insurgent organizations in neighboring countries to recognize their common struggle against oppression and to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Their statement reads, “RPF is calling on you to stop attacking us, the Revolutionary Organizations of WESEA. RPF and its army PLA have a desire to maintain amity with any genuine insurgents of neighboring foreign countries.”
Emphasizing the historical betrayals by the Indian government, the RPF urged these groups to rethink their alliances and to work towards mutual respect and cooperation.
