The alliance between the six political parties comprising of Indian national Congress , Communist Party of India, Communist party of India (Marxist), Forward Block, RSP and JD(S) has been named as Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) and launched its 18-point Common Agenda.
The pre poll alliance was formed on January 27 for the ensuing 12th Assembly election of Manipur, with a common motive of defeating the BJP.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) election observer (Manipur) Jairam Ramesh, Congress Legislature Party leader O Ibobi and CPI National Executive member Dr M Nara led representatives of five political parties- CPI,CPI(M),RSP,Janata Dal (S) and Forward Block, were present during the election agenda releasing function at Congress Bhavan here.
The 18th point election agendas of the newly floated MPSA promised to secure the territorial integrity of Manipur and its historical boundaries, enact right to free healthcare law to benefit citizens of the economically weaker section, provide unemployment allowance to the youth and deliver effective welfare schemes for the poor, workers in unorganised sector and assure a secure future for their families.
It also promised to preserve, protect and promote communal harmony and peace in the state, bring about sustainable economic growth in the next five years to deliver economic justice ensuring livelihood income to every family.
Apart from promising to make Manipur self-sufficient in rice production, guarantee procurement of farmers’ produce and to ensure that one crop farmers become two-crop and three-crop farmers in the next five years, the joint election agenda also promised to ensure the full implementation of Article 371© of the constitution.
It also promised to provide universal access to safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply to every household and fight against drug menace by implementing the law without fear or favour and endeavour to bring its victims on the path to normalcy besides fulfilling the democratic aspiration of all regions and all people of the state.
