Tribal students’ bodies demand release of pending scholarship for ST students

The joint students’ bodies of All Tribal students’ union Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), and Kuki Students’ Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has urged the state government to release pending scholarships for the ST students of Manipur at the earliest.
A joint statement of the three student bodies said that – while students belonging to SC and OBC have already received their scholarships from the government with ‘pomp and show.’ the students belonging to ST categories are still looking forward to welcoming their scholarships.
Mention may be made that recently ACTSUI (All College Tribal Students Union, Imphal ) had already raised this issue to the Director of tribal affairs and hill government of Manipur. Still, the government is yet to respond to their demands, the statement added.
The statement further said that the non clearance of student scholarship for ST is lackadaisical attitude towards ST students. This made the students feel discriminated against by the government the three Apex students bodies said and appeal to the state government of Manipur to release the pending scholarships at the earliest.
