Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare arrived today on a one-day visit to the state. During her visit she inaugurated a fair “Showcasing of Technology products and interface of scientist-farmers-FPOs-Agripreneurs” under the campaign of Azadika Amrit Mohatsav at the campus of College of Agriculture, Iroishemba, Imphal today.
In the inaugural function, she said that the Central and State Government to give all the possible assistance to farmers to make Manipur self-sufficient in dairy, poultry, and fish. She called upon the scientist and researchers of the University to come upon farmer-friendly researches so that the farmers can get benefits out of it. She also spoke about the Fasal Yojana Bima Yojana and PM Kisan Yojana which has been taken up by central government for the welfare of the farmers. She also said that India has made enormous production in vegetables and horticulture products which place the country in 9th rank in the export of vegetable and horticulture products. She further added that she had met the state agriculture officials and had talked about the problems faced by the farmers to be solved at the earliest.
The Union Minister also interacted with the farmers in their stalls which showcased their farm products and listened to their queries.
The function was also attended by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
