An aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF), which was on a routine training sortie crashed at Manakabad in Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India, on Thursday morning, in which its pilot ejected safely, a Defence spokesman said.
Flt Lt Abhilash, was found lying in the field, by villagers who gathered in a large number soon after the incident. Some of the locals video graphed the incident and shared it on social media.
“An IAF Mirage 2000 aircraft experienced a technical malfunction during a training sortie in the central sector this morning. The pilot ejected safely. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident”, the IAF tweeted.
This was the second incident of the air crash in Bhind. In 2019 the IAF’s trainer aircraft Mig-21, had crashed in the field at Gohad in which the pilot had ejected to safety. The aircraft had undertaken sortie from the IAF’s Gwalior air base.
Similarly on August 25 this year, the MiG-21 had crashed in Bhutaria village of Barmer district in Rajasthan, during routine sortie. The pilot had ejected safely in that mishap too.
