Co-ordinating Body, Khurai which is an apex body of local clubs, Meira Paibi and working-class of Khurai today said that Article 371( C) of the Indian Constitution is just a temporary article and it can be abrogated like the way that the 370 of the Indian Constitution has been abrogated by the government of India. This was stated while justifying the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh statement where he said that all land in Manipur belongs to the state of Manipur.
“Our constitution says that the whole of land belong to the Union of State and thus there is no wrong when the chief minister of Manipur says ‘Every land in the state belongs to the state’”, a statement by the Co-ordinating Body, Khurai which is an apex body of local clubs, Meira Paibi and working class of Khurai , said defying argument against the statement made by some organization in reaction to the Chief Minister’s statement which he said the same while delivering speech on occasion of the 72nd Van Mahotsav festival recently.
The statement by the Co-ordinating body further said that what the Chief Minister said is constitutionally correct and every one of us staying in the state should accept that Manipur belong to all of us irrespective of which community they belongs to. The body appealed all community to live together peacefully and make sure that the territory of Manipur remains protected.
It further said that there are 60 assembly constituencies in Manipur and out of these 20 seats are reserved including 1 seat for schedule cast. That means 19 are reserved for the Schedule Tribe. It further stated that the Kangpokpi Assembly constituency also belongs to general category but it is surprising on why it has not been represented as general.
