Ex Minister, RV Mingthing today urged the state government to reconsider the proposed project of Imphal Ring Road considering the people of Lanthung village.
Addressing a press conference at his residence at Lamphel, Mingthing said that the proposed project of Imphal Ring Road is going to destroy a village of Lanthung Hill at Langol area which has been inherited for 40 years. He further said that the state government did not inform the village authority for the proposed project and started conducting survey of eviction at the said place since eight months. The project is not only destroying half of the village but also the main church along with 40 houses. The place is inherited mostly by Tangkhul, Kabui, Meitei and other tribes for many years and destroying such historic place is highly condemned. He appreciate that the Imphal Ring Road is going to be constructed in the state but the project should not destroy houses. There is an alternate route to construct the project at the village without destroying houses and he added that he himself had earlier urged the Governor, Chief Minister, Revenue Minister, Work Minister and Chief Secretary to reconsider the proposed project. RV Mingthing further appealed the government of Manipur to look into the matter and reconsider the project.
