Drive against tobacco products and plastic intensifies

Imphal, Nov 11: Student body DESAM’s serious concern over the rise of plastic polythene bag pollution to the environment has once more wake up the state machineries. Officials of Manipur Pollution Control Board and the City Police too joined the students campaign for plastic free Manipur. Besides the Police team also continue the drive against selling of tobacco product in the state.
Today morning joint team of DESAM Volunteers, City Police and the officials of the Manipur Pollution Control Board conducted drive against used of plastic and tobacco product at Thangal Keithel and MG Avenue. During the drive over Rs. 10 lakhs worth tobacco products including Zarda, Kaini and other packet product were seized from various shops.
The drive continues till late in the evening.
