Imphal, March 23: A symposium to revive the indigenous traditional ritual of Meitei people was held today at Lamyanba Shanglen Palace Compound. The main topic was the traditional rituals of Deeping at the foothill of Baruni Hill.
The symposium organized jointly by Yelhou Eenat Sindam Lup, Imphal and Ebenthou Yumjao Lairembi Thougal Lup was attended by Samjetsabam Kondumba, konung Maiba Hanba, Gojendro Thouroijam, President, Ebenthou Yumjao lairembi Thougal Lup, Soibam Leikai, Imphal East, B, Kulachandra Sharma, Scholar and Naokhomba, General Commander (UFO) as dignitaries on the dais.
Speaking at the sideline of the symposium, Gojendra Tharoijam said that the symposium is being organized to let the younger generation understand the traditional rituals of community as many have forgotten our culture. He also said that various traditional games like Mukna, Kangei,, etc. has been left out by the present generation and reminding them about our rich culture is the need of the hour.
