Silchar, Jan. 28: The discussion on “various problem which are now being face by the people of the North East India” on 2nd Day ”1st North East Youths’ Convention” organized by Manipuri Youths’ Front Assam (MYFA) in Collaboration with North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) and Youths’ Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) was held today at Tourist Lodge in Silchar. The discussion was held to explore the origins of the currently prevailing conflicts in the NE states and the imposition of AFSPA, 1958 in Manipur state and the deprivation of various rights by the development projects like Mega Dams, Mining, Land Acquisition, lack of Education, health, unemployment and migration for jobs, Sexual violence etc. U Jenison Singh, member of Youths’ Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) in his speech highlighted the issue by bringing back the historical episodes of the conversion of indigenous religions and culture, the coming of British colonialism and the imposition of AFSPA, 1958. Presentation of “Father of Manipuri Social Workers” Award and Cultural Extravaganza will also be held on 29 January, the 3rd Day of the 1st North East Youths’ Convention. prof.Gourababu- Retd. Nehru College,Silchar was Moderator while IS Thingom- Social Activist, Seram Herajit- President MYFA and M.Kalanjoy-Member, North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) also attended the program besides the participation of youths, Students and elders of the North East area.
