Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight Observes In Thoubal

Thoubal, June.12: The District Health Society, Thoubal Organise Intensified Diarrhoea Control fortnight observation was launched at the Wangbal Community Hall, Thoubal District today, the observation was organised in view of the upcoming IDCF event to be held from June 12 – 24.L.Nabakishwar Singh,IAS DC Thoubal/ Chairman, District Health Society, Thoubal, Dr.N.Jayantakumar Singh, CMO/District Mission Director,District Health Society,Thoubal, Dr.N.Akendra DIO/DFWO,Thoubal and Shyama Devi, DPO/ICDS Thoubal attended the launching programme as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honours respectively.Delivering keynote address, DPM of the District Health Society, Thoubal Ch.Basanta Singh stated that focus on women and child health is the most important targets amongst other target of the National Health Mission which was previously called the National Rural Health Mission.Highlighting the main objectives of the fortnight observation, Ch.Basanta Singh said Diarrhea Control and under nourished children below 5 years with related activities that included Home visits by ASHAs for prophylactic distribution of ORS-Zinc, establishment of ORS-Zinc corners, ensuring prescription or ORS with Zinc dispersible tablets and referral and medical management by all health providers including medical officers would be taken up during the fortnight.Speaking on the occasion DC, L.Nabakishwar said that we need to give more emphasis on children below 5 years of age as they are more vulnerable to this epidemic and more effective control mechanism, it said.The DC appealed to the public to extend their full support and corporation towards this end.The launching programme was also attended by Government officials including the ICDS officials, medical officers, staff and officials of the medical and NRHM, representatives from the civil bodies including NYK Thoubal, NGOs and school teachers.Meanwhile, A one day Awareness on Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) was organised today by the Block Health Society, Thoubal Block and District Health Society (NHM), Thoubal, under the aegis of the deputy commissioner of the district at Wangbal.
