Ex Minister’s son convicted 5 years rigorous imprisonment on Rozer murder case

Imphal, Jan 20: District and session Judge Manipur, Maibam Manojkumar today convicted 5 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10 lakh to son of former Minister N. Biren, Nongthombam Ajay, the accused in Irom Rozer murder. On January 6, this year , the court found the accused guilty of ”homicide not amounting to murder” (304 section ii) by an Imphal sessions court. However, the quantum of sentence was reserved and scheduled on Jan 11. But later again it was postponed and fixed today. The verdict was announced today in a pack court room of the District and session judge Imphal. Nongthombam Ajay, then 17, was accused of shooting 21 years old Irom Rozer on March 21 in 2011 at Tiddim road near Ghari after an altercation during the Holi festivities in 2011. The victim Rozer was shot on the highway that passes in front of Imphal’s Tulihal Airport. Former Minister, N. Biren, who is also the spokesperson of BJP Manipur Pradesh, brought his accused son to the police and made him surrender to the law enforcers.
