Govt. need to provide permanent market shed for Mao vegetable seller in Imphal

Imphal, July 5: The decision of the Mao community to finally turn towards Imphal as their only refuge perhaps is a good sign for the people of the state. The attitude and the pride in them of being a Manipuri showed that the unity of the state can never be distorted by any force. Because it is the blood bondage that has been binding us for so long – say for over 2000 years. History shows the very coexistence of various communities of this erstwhile kingdom. May be people face hardship and unwanted incidents in various phases of our long historical process. And May be this very unwanted incident had somehow given opportunity to some vested interested persons, especially to those who know that the people of the region can never be supressed as long as they remain united . These vested interested people who want to see Manipur into pieces had engineer every possible way to separate the long bandage of brotherhood between each community of the state. We have seen how they had nearly succeeded in separating the Meitei, Kuki, Naga and the Muslim by inciting hate feeling. But so far no such move has ever succeeded and once again when it is about the integrity of both our state boundary and the people – the people have once again united.
Moa community who had strongly stood up against the intrusion of Manipur’s terriritory by a group of people from Nagaland have now come to Imphal. Kohima is more convenient for them to go on their trade of selling vegetable produced by them in term of the road connectivity condition as well as the proximity of the place. However instead of all that they now come to Imphal shifting their entire business here in Imphal. The initiative of the Civil Society organisation of the state need to be appreciated for what they have done for this community.
Now it is upto the government to restore this age old bondage. The Govt. needs to immediately provide a permanent site for Mao vegetable seller in Imphal by arranging a suitable market shed for them. Beside, the government also arrange transport for these traders from Mao at Subsidise rate. Site such asthe unused ISBT can be arrange on temporary basis. Besides, empty space available at the first floors of the three KwairambandImaKeithelcan also be consider if they can convince the probable opposition from any corner. This is perhaps a right time to act as the civil society organisation will be with them to this specific issue.
Or else the government should also look for some alternative means like framing a vegetable, fruits marketing policy, where the vegetable as well as fruits could be ferried from the respective societies by vegetable dealers and distribute through detail outlets, which will benefit all including farmers/producers, distributors, retailers and the consumers, without any painstaking hardship.
