Manipur enters Qtr Final in National Junior Boys Handball Championship

IMPHAL, Feb 23-Host Manipur enters the quarter finals of the 41st National Junior Boys Handball Championship which is underway at the Indoor Stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal.

In their pre quarter finals match played today, Manipur beat Jammu and Kashmir 23-22.Interestingly most of the first seven players of Manipur team was represented by players from other states.

Other teams which entered the quarter finals of the biggest ever national championship are National Handball Academy(NHA), Delhi,Chandigarh,Madhya Pradesh(MP),Haryana, Sports Authority of India and Uttar Pradesh(UP).In their pre-quarter finals,NHA beat Telangana(26-18),Delhi beat Odisha(23-13),Chandigarh beat Maharashtra(23-21),Madhya Pradesh beat Chhatisgarh (27-26),Haryana beat Punjab(29-24),SAI beat Maharashtra(26-19) and UP beat Rajasthan(24-19).

However none of the three north east states namely Assam, Nagaland and Tripura could not enter the quarter finals of the championship which was started from Feb. 20.

It may be mentioned that around 500 boys from 28 states and 2 Sports Academy is participating in the six-day long championship organised by the Manipur Handball Association under the aegis of the Handball Federation of India.
