Manipur Hockey celebrated International Olympic Day

Manipur Hockey celebrated International Olympic Day at different places today to mark the birth of the modern Olympics.
The Day marks the birth of the Modern Olympics with the formation of the International Olympic Committee on 23 June 1894 in Paris. Thereafter, the first Modern Olympics was held in Athens in 1896.
Manipur Hockey celebrated the Day at four different places. The main function was held at Khongman Students Club Hall as Cake Cutting Ceremony in presence of Gyanendro Ningombam (respected President of Hockey India), Basudev Singh (respected President of Manipur Hockey), Seram Neken (General Secretary of Manipur Hockey) along with other officials of Manipur Hockey & Khongman Students Club.
The celebration was also organised in Jiribam by All Jiribam Sports Association (Hockey Unit), Hockey Unit of Imphal West & Bishnupur Hockey with the participation of sports lovers under the aegis of Manipur Hockey.
On this occasion, General Secretary Seram Neken on behalf of Manipur Hockey greeted the sportspersons & sports lovers of Manipur and appealed to all to strive to promote good health & sporting spirit among the youths of Manipur.
Also, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Olympic Day today, has conveyed the pride that the nation feels for those who have represented India in various Olympics over the years. He also wised the best to the Indian contingent for Tokyo Olympics.
