The 1st District-Level Taekwondo Championship 2025 commenced today at the Indoor Hall of Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong. Organized by the Bishnupur District Taekwondo Association in observance of International Sports Day 2025, the championship aims to promote sportsmanship and physical fitness among young athletes.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ningthoukhong Municipal Council Chairperson Laishram Ibungo, Bishnupur District Taekwondo Association President Dr. Norendro Thokchom, Apunba Lup Ningthoukhong Convenor H. Nungshibabu, Bal Vidya Mandir Ningthoukhong Principal Laishram Keshav, and Bishnupur District Wushu Association President K. Phajaton, among other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Norendro Thokchom emphasized the importance of nurturing young talents and supporting children who are passionate about sports despite their challenging circumstances. He highlighted that engaging in sports fosters discipline and resilience, making it a crucial aspect of youth development.
The championship features around 300 young taekwondo athletes from various academies across Bishnupur district, all competing for top honors.
