The Meitei Nupi

By Leishemba Loushambam

Oh! The Jewel of Land,
The Nupi blooms as Jewels
Valid! This must what Erwin meant.
To the Meitei Nupi,
I, myself write this poem
To the Meitei Nupi,
On whose heart made up of stone;
The stone where weeds of seizure can’t breed.
Grains, she saved from reigns of Brits;
There she sets the sun of Brits.
Lo and Behold!
The yet is to be witness.
The Modern age prevailed,
The Mighty Meitei nupi still hailed;
Hail to save their Land,
For the one who is yet to come.
Weapons nor canons,she neither fear;
She, the saviour Emas fear the land.
Oh Siroi! Sikhiroi keisu Meitei nupi gi thouna,
Oh Sangai! Ngairedo Malemna, Meitei nupi safonglo,
Oh Loktak! Taklodana Malemda Meitei nupi Angambini.
When the youths of her have buried depth down,
Depth down the hills of Poppy,
Here comes the Meitei Nupi to reign the hills,
As the hills of terror is dark and woody,
It must have been cruel for you.
Let us swab her sweat of patriotism.
Neither the bravery nor the Meitei nupi,
Will never die,she lives a long life.
Giving a life to another one.
