A thought-provoking play titled Wakat (meaning Protest) was staged on Saturday by The Juvenile Theatre, Kongba Kshetri Leikai, Imphal East, at the Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) Hall, Yaiskul. The performance was sponsored by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The inaugural function of the play was held with a distinguished gathering. L. Lalit Singh graced the event as the Chief Guest, while I. Ibohal Singh presided over the ceremony.
The event was further honoured by the presence of Imo Luwang, K. Rajen, Dr. K. Basanta, and H. Aparjit as Guests of Honour, adding significance to the cultural evening.
Wakat highlights the spirit of resistance and raises pertinent social questions through powerful performances and compelling narrative. The play is part of The Juvenile Theatre’s continued commitment to youth-oriented theatrical productions that engage with contemporary issues.
A large number of theatre enthusiasts, cultural activists, and students attended the performance, applauding the cast and crew for their sincere effort and artistic expression.
