Two individuals from Churachandpur held in Assam with Heroin worth Rs. 8 Crore

Assam Police have arrested two persons from Churachandpur district of Manipur after recovering heroin valued at around Rs. 8 crore during a vehicle check at Amingaon, Kamrup, on September 1.
Police sources said a red Hyundai i10 (Regn No. MN 01-AW-2641) was intercepted and subjected to a detailed search, which led to the discovery of 74 soap boxes filled with heroin weighing approximately 910 grams (excluding packaging). The contraband was cleverly hidden inside the door panels and rear compartment of the car.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gogou Suantak (33), son of Thangneinak Suantak of Sheiphei village under Sangaikot Police Station, and Seilun Vaiphei (39), son of Thangkho Vaiphei of Makhao village under Sangaikot Police Station. Both belong to the Kuki-Zo community of Churachandpur district.
The duo has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police have initiated further investigation to trace the wider network involved in the inter-state narcotics trade.
