In continuation of Catch Up series, the District Administration Senapati organised the third series of Catch up on Screening and Awareness on Breast Cancer today at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati.
In today’s series, the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati Mamoni Doley, IAS applauded and thanked the gathering for their presence and co-operation in the initiative taken up by the District Administration, Senapati. The DC, Senapati appealed the people to come forward and spread awareness at the earliest. She also mentioned the Catch up series will continued on with various relevant topics from various experts.
Dr. Sumpi Percy, Chief Medical Officer, Senapati spoke on the importance of Screening and Awareness on Breast Cancer as a Resource person. She said that the aim of screening cancer is to detect cancer before symptoms appear so that it will reduce the number of people who develop and die from cancer. She also said that Breast Cancer is the 2nd most common cancer in worldwide and no. 1 in women followed by cervical, oral, lung, and colorectal cancers. The CMO, Senapati mentioned that a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3 minutes resulting 1, 25,000 new breast cancer cases arising each year in India.
