The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) has expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of its President, Dhiraj Yumnam, who passed away on August 29, 2025.
In a condolence meeting held today at the residence of Working President, Lt. Col. L. Lokendra Singh (Retd.) at Sangakpham Bazar, members of the Executive Committee, advisers, women’s wing and youth wing of STDCM paid tribute to the departed leader.
The committee recalled the contributions of Dhiraj Yumnam, particularly his tireless efforts in demanding the inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the Scheduled Tribe list of the Indian Constitution. Members remembered him as a dedicated leader who worked relentlessly for the protection and welfare of the community, and whose passing has left a great void in the movement.
STDCM members observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. They prayed for his soul to rest in peace and pledged to carry forward his mission with renewed commitment.
