Sangeet Kala Sangam (SKS) staged its classical dance production “Duti Sambat” at the auditorium of a cultural organisation in Khurai Lamlong Bazar, drawing an enthusiastic audience of dance and cultural aficionados.
Speaking as the chief guest, Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMA), P. Marking its sixty-first year, SKS has extended its creative repertoire beyond dance by producing dramatic works inspired by eighty selected stories from Manipuri literature. Bilash highlighted that SKS’s continued perseverance in presenting cultural productions, despite challenges, reflected its deep commitment to preserving and promoting Manipur’s rich artistic heritage.
He also mentioned that JNMA’s ballet production unit will observe its golden jubilee on January 16, accompanied by a planned dance drama festival, inviting organisations including SKS, Jagoi Marup, and Progressive Artistes’ Laboratory (PAL) to participate.
Presided over by SKS President N. Babuton Singh, the programme featured SKS artistes performing “Duti Sambat”, followed by a vibrant Pung Cholom presentation, leaving the audience enthralled by the richness and vitality of Manipuri performing arts.
