In a proud and momentous achievement for the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS has secured the 2nd Prize in the prestigious “World Oral Health Day Celebration 2025” contest, organized by the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD). The nationwide competition, held from March 20 to April 20, 2025, saw participation from renowned dental institutions across India.
The event, part of the globally observed World Oral Health Day on March 20, aims to raise awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and preventive dental care. This year’s contest encouraged innovation, community engagement, and educational outreach focused on children’s oral health. The RIMS team stood out for its impactful initiatives, creativity, and commitment to promoting dental health in the community.
Adding to the accolades, this achievement follows the Institute’s national-level recognition in ISPPD 2024, where it was awarded the 1st Consolation Prize in the same competition, along with the 1st Prize in the ‘Nanhi Muskaan – Little Smile’ project. This outreach initiative, organized by ISPPD, focused on underprivileged children and aimed to provide healthcare and support through free health camps, educational materials, arts and crafts programs, and other essential supplies. These awards underscore the Dental College’s consistent efforts and remarkable year-on-year progress, further highlighting the Institute’s growing stature in pediatric and preventive dental care.
These recognitions are a testament to the tireless efforts and dedication of the faculty, students, and staff of the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry. The achievements would not have been possible without the inspiring leadership and constant support of Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, and Prof. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS, whose guidance continues to drive the institution toward national prominence.
The formal award presentation for the 2nd Prize in 2025 will take place during the inaugural function of the ISPPD Conference, scheduled for November 2025 in Bhubaneswar. These national-level accolades further solidify RIMS Imphal’s position as a premier institute in dental education, community service, and oral health innovation in India.
