Psychological Support Initiatives in Bishnupur

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Manipur State Branch, in collaboration with IRCS Bishnupur District Branch, has organized a basic psychological support camp for conflict victims at the Takmu Water Sports Complex in Laisoi Thanga A/C.
The initiative was led by Senior Psychiatrist Dr. Seram Manikanta and IRCS Manipur State Branch Chairman Narendra Ningomba, who emphasized the importance of mental health support for those affected by the conflict. The event aimed at offering counseling and mental health services to help IDPs cope with the trauma and stress they have experienced.
Key officials in attendance included IRCS Manipur State Branch Secretary Athokpam Nabachandra, Vice Chairman Dr. Laishram Manglem, Treasurer Premjit Naoroibam, and Executive Member Hemam Sotojit, along with IRCS Bishnupur District Branch Secretary Dr. H. Romen.
During the session, Dr. Seram Manikanta highlighted the severe impact of displacement, noting that many IDPs are suffering from heightened anxiety and depression. He reassured attendees that their distress is recognized and that continued support will be provided to help them rebuild their lives.
In addition to the psychological support, a free health camp was organized by Dr. Akash Thokchom from CHC Moirang and Dr. Hemam Rasheswori from CMO Pool, offering medical services to the IDPs.
A similar support initiative was also held at the Kwakta Santhong Community Hall, with medical services provided by Dr. Imtiyaaz Ahamed and Dr. Chingakham Khelen from PHC Kwakta.
