Pre-Monsoon rains, hailstorms cause damage in Manipur

IT News
Imphal, March 2:

Pre-monsoon rains, accompanied by hailstorms, thunderstorms, and strong winds, caused significant damage across Manipur on Sunday. The sudden downpour affected Imphal West, Kakching, and Noney districts, leading to crop destruction, power outages, and waterlogging.
Strong winds and hailstorms lasting around 30 minutes severely damaged standing crops in Keirak and Wabagai villages of Kakching. In Noney’s hilly areas, uprooted trees and snapped power lines disrupted daily life. Valley regions, including Langthaband, Chajing, Nambol, Kodompokpi, Thoubal, and Yairipok, saw roofs blown off multiple houses.
However, the rains provided relief to residents in Imphal East and Ukhrul, who had been facing dry spells and water shortages.
