The curtain of the five days North East Dance and Music Festival organised by the Rhythms of Manipur with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture down today with the impressive folk music numbers rendered by young talented Thongam Loijingkhombi and her party.
The Regional Director North East, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Guwahati and Shillong under Ministry of External Affairs Ningthoujam Munish graced the closing day of the festival as Chief Guest.
As concluding performance Loijingkhombi and her party backed by the musicians of the Rhythms of Manipur rendered two folk songs (Khunung Eshei) namely Yaipal Seithaba and Lashing Lei Seitha both composed by reknowned folk singer and composer Thongam Gotshe Meitei. The audience were all enthralled at the melodious voice of the young folk singers and filled the auditorium with the sound of clapping.
Speaking on the occasion the Regional Director Munish all praised about the achievements of Rhythms of Manipur in the world of music during the last few decades in the front of performance and holding events. The Rhythms of Manipur is truly now cultural ambassador of Manipur and India, Ningthoujam Munish added. He also commended at the fine folk song performance of Loijingkhombi and her party.
During the five days festival Sattriya Dance performance by Usha Rani Baishya from Guwahati, Assam, Langden Drum performance by junior drummers of the Rhythms of Manipur, Kartal Cholom by Shri Hari Nata Sankirtana Academy, Pena Eshei by Yeningkol Seidam Shang, Manipuri folk dance by Lianda Folk and Classical Academy, Dhol Dholok Cholom by Guru Kulla Cultural Academy, Fusion music by the Rhythms of Manipur and Tangkhul folk music by Guru Rewben Mashangva Padma Shri awardee were presented.
