The Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF), Kakching District Committee, has warned of intensifying its agitation if the authorities fail to take concrete steps to introduce a Drug Use Prevention Education curriculum for students from Classes V to XII in schools.
Speaking to the media, MSF Kakching District Committee president Pukhrambam Ranajit said the committee had already submitted a memorandum to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Kakching, urging the introduction of a structured curriculum on drug use prevention for Classes V to XII. The proposal seeks to incorporate the subject into the regular school syllabus to create awareness among students about the dangers of substance abuse and promote preventive education from an early age.
Ranajit stated that despite repeated appeals, no tangible action has been taken by the concerned authorities. He cautioned that if the demand continues to be ignored, the MSF Kakching District Committee, in consultation with students and other stakeholders, would launch a series of intensified democratic agitations.
