Indian boxing legend Mary Kom’s house in Faridabad was looted while her family was away, police confirmed. A Crime Branch team has begun investigations, collecting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
Officials said the burglary took place on September 24 at her residence under Surajkund Police Station. SHO Prahlad Singh stated that the house was locked at the time of the incident and multiple Crime Branch teams have been deployed to trace those involved.
Mary Kom, who is currently away, told reporters that she had informed police about the theft after being alerted by neighbours. She said CCTV footage showed the intruders carrying away the television and other household items, but she would be able to confirm the full extent of the loss only upon her return.
The 41-year-old pugilist is India’s most decorated female boxer, having won six world titles, five Asian championships, and an Olympic bronze medal. She also secured India’s first female boxing gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games and reclaimed her sixth world title in 2018 following a brief hiatus.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be shared as the probe progresses.
