Manipur University observes ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of Manipur University, Canchipur, observed the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” today under the theme “Together for a Drug-Free India”. The programme, held at the Department of Anthropology at 11:30 a.m., was organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The event was graced by NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, and NSS Programme Officers Dr. H. Suraj Singh, Dr. T. Deepamanjuri Devi, Dr. Kh. Herachandra Singh, and Dr. Dalip Singh, who also served as presidium members.
In her welcome address, Dr. T. Deepamanjuri Devi stressed the need for preventive education, active youth engagement, and broad campus participation to create a healthy, drug-free academic environment.
Resource person Dr. Dalip Singh shared perspectives and personal experiences, underscoring the importance of community-led initiatives in curbing substance abuse. He noted that the campaign focuses on reaching vulnerable populations through active involvement of youth, women, educational institutions, and community organisations, ensuring early prevention measures.
Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh reiterated the Abhiyan’s mission of building a drug-free India, calling for united community action and institutional support to make the campaign a nationwide movement for a healthier society. Dr. Kh. Herachandra Singh highlighted that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is operational in all districts of the country, serving as a mass movement to eradicate drug abuse and promote holistic well-being.
