The Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) MC Unification has issued a strong warning to gangs allegedly providing support and shelter to drug lords and drug smugglers operating in Manipur.
In a statement released by Chingkheinganba, Public Relations Officer of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) MC Unification, the party said it has conveyed a clear message to the people regarding the growing nexus between criminal gangs, drug traffickers, and their supporters. The statement alleged that a gangster is being used as a shelter and operational platform by drug lords and drug smuggling networks.
The party said it has been closely monitoring the activities of various armed and criminal groups in the state and warned that any group or organisation found protecting, assisting, or harbouring drug traffickers would face consequences. It stated that drug trafficking and addiction are causing widespread harm in Manipur, destroying families, affecting the youth, and eroding the social fabric.
Referring to a press release issued on 28/12/2025, the party alleged that the gangster had attempted to defame the organisation by selectively misinterpreting its earlier statements. The party clarified that it has never claimed that drug smuggling is confined to any single community. It termed as false and misleading the allegation that drug trafficking involves only the Meitei Pangal community.
The party maintained that individuals from multiple communities, including Meitei Pangals, Meiteis, Nagas, and others, are involved in drug-related activities, and cautioned against blaming or targeting any community as a whole. It said communal harmony should not be undermined through misinformation.
Chingkheinganba said the issue is not merely about drugs, but about deliberate distortion of facts to create confusion and discord. He alleged that some smugglers project themselves as innocent victims to evade accountability and even fund groups to safeguard their interests.
He appealed to civil society organisations and community bodies not to provide platforms or protection to those involved in drug smuggling and said credible information should be verified through proper channels. He warned that irresponsible statements during sensitive times could worsen the situation and asserted that the party’s struggle is against drugs, drug smugglers, and the gangs that protect them, not against any community.
