KAI Fashion Weekend concludes, showcases local talent and design excellence

The three-day KAI Fashion Weekend, which began on July 31 at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, concluded yesterday with a grand finale showcasing the creativity of local designers and models.

The event featured collections by renowned designers, including Wangkhei Phee Mantri, Basan Charei Namkhang, G Lansin, Ana and Niv, Pwanpiu Karles, and Raliu, among others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, KAI Fashion Weekend Director Sailex Ngairangbam said the event was conceived not merely as an entertainment programme but as a platform to promote genuine fashion design and create business opportunities for local designers. He expressed hope that such initiatives would help participants gain exposure at the national and international levels.

A total of 24 designers presented their creations during the three-day event. The organisers also sponsored training for 10 internally displaced (IDP) youths from Manipur as makeup artists, while 48 male and female models, selected through auditions, participated in the fashion shows.

Sailex said the organisers would continue to mentor the selected models and provide them opportunities to participate in national and international fashion events, helping showcase Manipur’s talent on a wider stage.

The closing function was attended by Sapam Nishikant Singh, MLA of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency.
