The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has expressed profound grief over the passing of K. Vorsei Kom of Ichum Kom village on July 14, 2025. The condolence message was conveyed through an official press release issued by the organisation today.
According to the release, the news of K. Vorsei Kom’s demise due to cancer was received with great shock and disbelief. The information was shared by Haopu Kom, President of the Kom Tribe Organisation Valley (KTVO) and an active member of the Federation of Haomee.
Late Vorsei Kom is survived by his wife K. Neikim Kom and nine children. He was described as a steadfast leader of the Kom tribe who dedicated his life to the unity and identity of the indigenous people of Manipur. Recalling his words, the release quoted him as saying, “Kom tribe will live as Kom and die as Kom, being the Yelhoumee (aborigine) of Manipur having Yek Salai.” He had also advocated for strong unity and unbreakable bonds among the native communities of the state.
The FoH press note highlighted his vision of solidarity, quoting him as encouraging KTVO and FoH to work hand in hand for unity, integrity, and the brotherhood of love. His message continues to resonate deeply among those who knew him, the release added.
Members of the Federation of Haomee observed a two-minute silence at the FoH office in his honour and extended their condolences to the bereaved family.
