A short awareness film produced by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Manipur, has appealed to the public to reject mob justice and adopt a compassionate approach towards individuals struggling with drug addiction.
The film was released as part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, with the objective of promoting awareness on drug abuse prevention and the fight against illicit drug trafficking.
Through a realistic storyline, the film conveys the message that drug users should be viewed as individuals in need of treatment and rehabilitation rather than subjected to violence or public humiliation.
In one of the key scenes, a drug-dependent individual, unable to purchase narcotic substances due to lack of money, attempts to snatch drugs from a peddler. He is subsequently caught by local residents, who prepare to assault him. However, before the situation escalates into mob violence, a young man intervenes and persuades the crowd not to take the law into their own hands.
