Awareness on Child Protection and Child Rights held

A one-day awareness programme on Child Protection and Child Rights was held at the Training Hall of the Weaker Section Development Council, Khangshim, yesterday.

The programme was organised by the South Eastern Rural Development Society (SERDS), Khangshim Village, under the supervision of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tengnoupal, and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Chandel.

Shelmoingam Khaling, Psycho-Social Counsellor of the One Stop Centre, Tengnoupal, spoke on mental health and emotional wellbeing, while Sub Inspector Khulak Tothang Dangshawa, 2nd OC of Tengnoupal Police Station, addressed the roles and responsibilities of the police in safeguarding children.

Maibam Robindro, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Kamjong, spoke on child marriage as part of the awareness programme.

Phurailatpam Devavrata Sharma, DCPO, Tengnoupal, also participated in the programme.
