Wide Angle Social Development Organisation, supported by Child Rights and You (CRY), organised the Annual Children’s Cultural Meet 2025 today at Moiranghanuba Lai Mamang Community Hall, Sagolband, Imphal. The event, held under the theme “Investing in our children is investing in our future,” brought together children, parents, educators and community leaders.
The program aimed to give the children, in the midst of continuous conflict and social tensions in Manipur, a space for hope and belonging, and reaffirmed common commitments toward peace, unity, and resilience. Organizers were quick to note that taking care of children is an important part of regaining trust and securing a stable future for the state.
The event was attended by Ksh. Bhaktakumar, Ten-time Mr India; Soubam Tomba Luwang, President of Semgat Sagatpa Committee, Moirang Hanuba Leirak; and Montu Ahanthem, Secretary of Wide Angle, among other dignitaries.
During the event, five students each from remedial centres covering 18 villages in the Imphal West received the Late Ahanthem Ongbi Haobam Lembi Devi Meritorious Award, a cash award, sponsored by her daughter Mary Hemchand under the programme. The prize was in recognition of their commitment, hard work, and academic excellence.
The cultural meet featured performances by children from the remedial centres of Thaoroijam, Maklang, Ngairangbam, Heinoupok, and Salam. Traditional Manipuri dances, a presentation of Thang-Ta, and a group rendition of “Sanaleibak Manipur” – the state song – highlighted the rich cultural vibrancy and talent of Manipur’s younger generation.
