The 17th Regional SARAS FAIR organized by State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Department of RD&PR, Government of Manipur that began on November 5 concluded today at Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex, Khabung Karong Ground, Senapati.
The Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans (SARAS) MELA 2024 was concluded by Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati as the Chief Guest, and Reikimdar Khaling, MCS, Sub- Divisional Officer, Paomata & Willong as the Guest of Honor.
Addressing the gathering, Senapati DC, Mamoni Doley, IAS emphasized on the role of women bringing change in terms of economic empowerment. She also looked forward that more event would be held in the future. She applauded the staffs of MSLRM for their tireless effort in making a successful Fair. Despite the grievances, she urged the SHG’s participating in Fair from various parts of the districts and villages to submit their feedbacks. She also welcomed SHG’s to her office in case of any issue,
In the Guest of Honor speech, the SDO of Paomata & Willong, Reikimdar Khaling, MCS said that she is encouraged to see SHG’s Women going out of kitchen and showcasing their handicraft, handloom, exotic fruits, and vegetables. She also said that this kind of event boost one’s self-confidence and economic condition. Besides, it also imparted financial disciplines matter along with generating incomes. She appealed the SHG women to participate on the next SARAS Fair.
As part of the programme, prizes and certificates were distributed to the outstanding performances SHG stall in four categories, namely, Handicraft- Tacham SHG; Handloom- Totsii SHG, Agriculture products- Bophe SHG and, Food Stall- Somazhi SHG. Besides, certificates were handed to all the SHGs participating in the 17th SARAS Fair.
During the 17th Regional SARAS FAIR at Senapati, 70 Self-Help Groups (SHG’s) from Tengnoupal, Chandel, Tamenglong, Noney, Imphal West Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Senapati participated in the fair.
