ZSUD and ZWAD observes 89th Martyrdom Anniversary of Haipou Jadonang

The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Delhi (ZSUD) and Zeliangrong Welfare Association, Delhi (ZWAD) has jointly observed the 89th Martyrdom Anniversary of Haipou Jadonang, under the theme, “The Vision of Haipou Jadonang and Its Relevance in the Contemporary Zeliangrong Society”, through zoom meeting.
The meeting started with an opening remark by Mr. Isaac Charenamai, General Secretary of Naga Students’ Union, Delhi who was also the anchor of the meeting. As a mark of paying homage to the martyr Haipou Jadonang, the lamp (candle) was lit by Mr. Benjamine Pamei, President, ZWAD followed by mass singing of Zeliangrong Anthem led by the executives of ZSUD & ZWAD.
Mr. Som Kamei, Postmaster General, Assam Postal Circle, Dibrugarh, who is also the son of Professor Gangmumei Kamei, the writer of/me book “Jadonang-The Mystic Naga Rebel” delivered a thematic talk. He spoke at length on the philosophy and nature of the socio-religious-cultural and political movement of Haipou Jadonang. Speaking from Dibrugarh, Assam, Mr. Kamei also encouraged the Luangdimai / Zeliangrong people to emulate the simple method of Haipou Jadonang based on truth and integrity. The participants were also advised to look for innovative and relevant ideas that will be in sync with the times to seek upliftment of the Zeliangrong people to accelerate the process of realization of Makaam Gwangdih (Makaam Kingdom) in our land.
“Zeliangrong Ringtelou” a slogan popularized since the days of Zeliangrong People’s Convention in the early 80s which led the Mass Movement for Zeliangrong Homeland was composed into a beautiful song by K.C Namgui some years ago. This song was presented live from Pune during the program by the composer himself.
Dr Achingliu Kamei,Assistant Professor, Delhi University delivered a beautiful and thought provoking speech based on the topic of the program. Each word was creatively used to have a deep impact in the audience’s minds of the ingenuity of Haipou’s movement to protect, preserve and promote Zeliangrong/Luangdimai identity, culture and polity in the comity of nations of his days and how the present Zeliangrong people need to do so even now
Dr. Kamei also expressed her appreciation to those who are steadfast in following the footsteps of Haipou Jadonang in the quest for emancipation of the Zeliangrong people and expressed her solidarity with them.
The program participants were thrilled and energized by the powerful lyrics of “Jukneimei Lu” (Prayer for The Age “ a prophetic song composed by Haipou Jadonang himself.
This song was presented to the audience by Mr. Timothy Lungzaeng, Treasurer, ZWAD.
Dr. Vibha Joshi joining from Oxford, UK also shared her personal experiences and meeting with Rani Gaidinliu in New Delhi in the late 1980s. She also shared the images and artifacts of Haipou Jadonang (Dampapu & Dampapui) and Rani Gaidinliu of great historical importance to the Zeliangrong people found in the Pitts Rivers Museum, Oxford, UK. Many people both Zeliangrong and non Zeliangrong alike from different parts of world participated the Program. Questions related to the topic were also asked to the resource persons.
Then, Mr. Gideon Kamei, Vice President, ZWAD delivered vote of thanks to all the program participants joining from different places across the globe particularly to the resource persons, artists and the host.
At the concluding moment, the webinar reverberated with the famous slogan of Haipou Jadonang, led by Mr. Pousalung Kamei, Advisor of ZSUD echoing together” Makaamei Gwangh Tu Puni” (Makaam people shall rule themselves).
