The fourth phase of the Anti-Litter Campaign under the Himalayan Cleanup 2026 programme was conducted across Ukhrul Town on Saturday with active participation of over 200 youth volunteers.
The campaign was organised by ENFOGAL in collaboration with the Pettigrew College Students’ Union to address the growing problem of littering, open dumping and plastic waste disposal in the town.
Volunteers carried out cleanliness drives along major streets, drains, marketplaces and public spaces while also spreading awareness on responsible waste disposal practices among residents, shopkeepers and commuters.
Organisers said the initiative aims to promote long-term behavioural change and encourage collective responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment.
Participants highlighted that indiscriminate dumping of plastic and household waste has contributed to clogged drains, pollution and deteriorating public hygiene in the town.
