Senapati, Nov 20: Tou – Tai (Seed) directed by Ashok Veilou from Purul village, Senapati Dist Manipur has won the best national short film competition in 22nd Kiff (Kolkata International Film Festival) 2016.
The film was also screened in Kalpanirjhar International short fiction Film festival ( kolkata) and Filmingo Short Film.
Ashok Veilou son of Thaipei Peter of Purul village is currently pursuing Final year Post Graduate Diploma in Direction & Screenplay Writing in SRFTI ( Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute) Kolkata.
Synopsis of the film Tou – Tai (Seed) –
Manipur in India’s Northeast is affected by the armed struggles between Indian Security Forces and the insurgent groups.
Vio, 24 years and a militant comes home for a short vacation. The effect of Indian army’s counter insurgency operation in his village is seen and felt through the life of his younger sister. His sister Sanai is pregnant from the force sexual encountered she had with the army. Similarly, his Grandfather is recovering from the blows inflictedby the soldiers from the past. Vio is in the cross road either to be with his pregnant sister but he decides to be in the jungle.
